Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir was established in 2005. Its artistic roots come from Nordic a cappella tradition, but from the very beginning the choir’s goal has been to exceed the limits set for a professional vocal ensemble. Genres, organisation form, partners, concept development - everything that is choir-related - has one single objective: visionary vocal art based on the soul-stirring wealth of human voice.

A classical choir with regular working procedures and proven concepts? Think again. Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir is a unique international choir project which breaks the mould, both artistically and organisationally.
Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir is a unique choir project. A pool of about 40 excellent young singers form the backbone of the ensemble - usuallly appearing on stage in the form of a classic chamber choir with 16 singers. Genre and concept are essential when determining the choir composition for each concert project in order to guarantee that we always present the audience with a highly specialised, homogeneous and expressive whole.
Swedish Andreas Halling is an active soloist and ensemble singer across Europe. He frequently works with leading ensembles in both early and new music and has sung under the direction of such conductors as René Jacobs, Eric Ericson and Laurence Equilbey.
After a musical education in the Swedish choral tradition, Andreas Halling decided to study singing at the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, France, and later at the Royal Conservatory in the Haag, the Netherlands. He now lives in Brussels where he has been studying with Belgian tenor Bart de Kegel. More information and news at
Erlend Tyrmi comes from Norway, but has been living the last ten years in Copenhagen. He is a much used baryton soloist in oratoriums in Norway and Denmark, and has been soloist with most of the Danish symphoni orchestras. Erlend is also a skilled chamber musician in the fields from baroque cantatas to romantic lieder. He has also participated in several operas, ao. the Opera Hedeland and with ‘Nordisk Netværk for tidlig Opera’.
Erlend is educated at the The Royal Danish Music Conservatory and The Opera Academy in Copenhagen.
Ingeborg Dalheim studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo with Mona Julsrud and Svein Bjørkøy as teachers. She specializes in baroque music and has collaborated with conductors such as Gabriel Garrido, Rinaldo Alessandrini and Alan Curtis. Dalheim has since 2004 been a member of the French ensemble Les Arts Florissants under the direction of William Christie and sings regularly with Hesperion XXI under the leadership av Jordi Savall.
Norwegian Hilde Gjermundsen studied voice and piano at the Academy at Hamar and at the Music Conservatory in Trondheim, Norway. She works in the music branch at Trondheim Katedralskole, teaches methodology at the Conservatory besides being an active singer and educationist. Hilde Gjermundsen appears frequently as a concert soloist and has appeared in soprano parts in operas, operettas, masses and oratories, specially in baroque music and first performances of new music.
Daniel Carlsson was born in Sweden in 1980. He began his studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2002 and graduated as a countertenor 2009, Daniel has participated in master classes with Martin Isepp, Jill Feldman, Roger Vignoles and Paul Esswood and took private lessons with Richard Levitt, who was Andreas Scholl’s teacher for many years.
Daniel has been a soloist with conductors such as Stephen Layton, Philip Pickett and Mark Tatlow. Olof Boman directed Alberto Ristoris opera Calandro with Daniel in the role of Nearco at Sanssouci in Potsdam Festspiele 2010. He has had several major opera roles, including Nero in Monteverdi’s opera The Coronation of Poppaea, Ptolemy in Handel’s opera Julius Caesar, Farman in Falling Awake by Lasse Schwanenflügel Piasecki.
Most recently, Daniel played Oberon in Benjamin Britten’s A midsummer nights dream and Abraham in a theater version of Britten’s Abraham and Isac at Gothenburg Opera.
Johan Bogren was born and grew up in Linköping, Sweden. After graduating from the Music High School in Norrköping, Johan Bogren studied singing at Vadstena Folkhögskola, Birmingham Conservatoire and finally at the Royal College of Music, London.
Johan Bogren has sung in the opera choirs at Glyndebourne, Opera Holland Park, The Royal Theatre, Copenhagen, and the Malmö Opera.
As an ensemble singer he is permanently attached to Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir and Ensemble Syd. In 2006 Johan Bogren became a permanent member of Radio Denmark’s Concert Choir and has participated in several projects with the Radio’s Vocal Ensemble.
Johan Bogren has appeared as a soloist at several oratory concerts both in Sweden and in England, and he has been awarded the Linköping Cultural Grant and the Östergötland County Cultural Grant.
Already as a child Nana Bugge Rasmussen was greatly interested in singing, and so she got her first vocal training in the Childrens Choir of the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where she started only eight years old.
Parallel to private vocal studies with opera singer Anne Margrethe Dahl, she studied philosophy at the University of Copenhagen from 2005 to 2007, where she got accepted both at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, Copenhagen, as well as at Universität der Künste, Berlin.She began her studies in Berlin, and continued in Copenhagen with Anne Margrethe Dahl and coach Christen Stubbe-Teglbjærg. In 2010 she gained her BA-degree from RDAM, and in 2013 her MA-degree, studying with voice-teacher Susanna Eken.She works with lied as well as opera and church music and is also a member of Holmens Vokalensemble, based i Holmens Church, Copenhagen.
Icelandic soprano Regina Unnur Olafsdottir has a degree in singing from the Royal Danish Conservatory, Copenhagen, 2009, where her teacher was Kirsten Buhl Møller. She also has a degree as a vocal coach from Complete Vocal Institute, Copenhagen.
Regina Unnur Olafsdottir has sung concerts as a soloist and with choirs and ensembles in many countries, both in Europe and in the USA. In the Icelandic chamber Opera “Grettir” she sang the part of the saga heroine Spes.
Staffan Liljas, bass-baritone, is equally at home on the concert and opera stage. This past year, he has been part of three critically lauded performances – first as Don Pedro in Berlioz’ Beatrice et Benedict at Läckö Slottsopera, then as the Badger in Janacek’s The cunning little vixen at Norrlandsoperan,and lastly performing Ligeti’s Aventures at Folkoperan.
Staffan Liljas graduated the master’s program at the University College of Opera in Stockholm in 2012. He has been an avid choir singer since an early age, and has performed with over 80 different choirs, including the Swedish Radio Choir and the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir.
Sophie Thing-Simonsen er studerende i solistklassen på Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium i København med debut november 2011. Som korsanger har hun erfaring fra både DRs Koncertkoret, Det Kongelige Operakor og Teater Hedeland.
I efteråret 2011 varetager hun sopransoloen i Brahms “Ein Deutches Requiem”.
Torsten Nielsen er baryton og uddannet med Diplomeksamen fra Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium i København. Videre studier hos bl.a. Anthony Rolfe Johnson.
Han optræder som solist i værker som Faurés “Requiem”, Duruflés “Requiem”, J.S. Bachs passioner og “Juleoratorium”, Händels “Messias” og Griegs “4 salmer” for kor og baryton.
Seneste optræden var i Arvo Pärts “Johannespassion” med Københavns Drengekor og Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen.
Er desuden uddannet som kordirigent hos professor Dan-Olof Stenlund og medvirker ved flere cd-indspilninger både som dirigent og solist.
Graduated in classical singing 2010 at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and studied under Antonio Juvarra in Monte Belluna, Italy.
Is frequently engaged as both lied- and oratorium singer.
Toured in the summer of 2012 with Robert Schumann’s “Dichterliebe” and Franz Schubert’s “Die Schöne Mullerin” in large parts of Sweden and Denmark.
Jonathan is often used as a soloist in oratoriums as Haydn’s “The Creation”, Handel’s “Messiah,” Bach’s “Magnificat” and Saint-saens “Christmas Oratorium”.

In cooperation with author and commentator, Knud Romer, the Golden Days Festival, Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir and the Ekkozone Percussion Ensemble presented a concert with highlights from 500 years of German music and poetry.
At this year’s traditional halloween concert, the Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir will celebrate the light of hope that is visible in darkness only.
With music by Weyse, Grieg and Sven-David Sandström, the program progresses from the light of morning to the fire of evening and concludes with the stunning Requiem by Gabriel Fauré which describes the eternal light and the singing of angles.

NORDIC MESSE is a new grand-scaled work by the Swedish composer Sven-David Sandström written especially for Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir and the Danish cellist Toke Møldrup.
It was first performed at the Bergen International Festival and first performed in Denmark d. June 16 in the Garnison Church. Nordic Mass is now available on CD from the publisher ExLibris. Read more here.
