The Concert Hall

Beautiful wooden beams, high ceilings, and unparalleled acoustics

The old horse stable on Islands Brygge is visited by international star musicians, Denmark's largest corporations, and wedding parties. The space boasts perfect acoustics that invite presence, immersion, and conversation - it is a concert hall for a reason.

The buildings date back to 1901 and have served as stables, garages, and an auto workshop, straight out of an Olsen Gang film. However, in 2005, Mogens Dahl undertook the restoration of these buildings with the assistance of architects Maali and Lalanda, who were also responsible for the renovation of the Masteskurene and Mærsehuset on Holmen.

The Story

In the heart of Islands Brygge, in 2004, Mogens Dahl found a home for his dreams. Together with architects Frank Maali and Gemma Lalanda, he restored the breathtaking buildings from 1901, which previously housed both horses and Jaguars. Since then, the Concert Hall has been a marketplace and a cathedral, where music, art, businesses, and life's significant events could unfold in intimate and inspiring settings.

The old building was constructed in 1901 and originally served as a stable with an attached caretaker's residence for Hertz Bogtrykkeri, where the design company VIPP now has its headquarters. In the current concert hall, horses were stabled, while carriages were parked in what is now the foyer.

The Story

The old building was constructed in 1901 and originally served as a stable with an attached caretaker's residence for Hertz Bogtrykkeri, where the design company VIPP now has its headquarters.

Subsequently, the buildings underwent many changes, including the construction of a garage complex as an extension of the original structure, which later housed an auto painting business and a workshop for Amar'kansk Auto. The old garage complex is now the Small Hall.
